What Openness measures
Openness (often written Openness to Experience) is about how much novelty, complexity, and the unfamiliar pull you — versus how much the practical, concrete, and familiar do.

High is not better. Low is not a flaw. Neither is a moral score. The useful fact is the position, and whether your week matches it.
Openness is not intelligence, agreeableness, extraversion, or “being interesting.” A high-openness person can be quiet, skeptical, or tightly organized. A low-openness person can be warm, socially energetic, or highly skilled. The other four Big Five domains are separate scores.

Researchers often describe Openness with clusters such as:
