Science-backed self-knowledge
About Deep Personality
The words for what you have always felt but could not explain. We combine 28 validated instruments into one coherent profile of how you think, feel, attach, and work.
What we measure
Most online personality tests hand you a four-letter code or a single score and call it a day. Deep Personality goes further. We connect Big Five traits, attachment, values, mood, stress, career fit, and relationship patterns so the result reads like a coherent explanation, not a score dump.
Our methodology
The assessment battery is built on established psychological research. We do not pretend this is a diagnosis, and we do not reduce you to a meme. The science comes first, then the synthesis makes it usable.
Validated instruments used
- IPIP-NEO — Big Five traits and 30 facets
- PHQ-9 — Depression screening — Kroenke et al., 2001
- GAD-7 — Anxiety screening — Spitzer et al., 2006
- PSS-10 — Perceived Stress Scale
- Rosenberg — Self-Esteem Scale
- ECR-R — Attachment — Brennan, Clark & Shaver, 1998
- Brief COPE — Coping strategies
- Grit Scale — Perseverance and passion
- MAAS — Mindful Attention Awareness Scale
- LOT-R — Life Orientation — optimism / pessimism
- Need for Cognition — Appetite for effortful thinking
- Empathy Quotient — Short form
- Emotional Intelligence — EI Scale
- Locus of Control — Internal vs. external attribution
- Distress Tolerance — DTS
- Perfectionism — Multidimensional scale
- Social Desirability — Response validity check
- Cognitive Reflection — CRT
This is not a replacement for therapy or clinical diagnosis.
The PHQ-9 and GAD-7 are screening instruments, not diagnostic tools. If your results point to clinical levels of depression or anxiety, connect with a qualified mental health professional.
How it works
- 1
Take the assessment
Answer self-report items across the full path. It runs 35-50 minutes. No trick questions, just honest items drawn from established psychological measures.
- 2
Get your profile
We generate a detailed report on your Big Five traits, wellbeing signals, cognitive style, emotional patterns, relationship needs, and work fit. Plain language, not academic jargon.
- 3
Compare with a partner
Optional. When both partners finish, we generate a couples comparison that highlights trait gaps, predicts friction points, and explains why the same arguments keep coming back.
See it on your own traits.

Over 8,500 people have taken the assessment. Most come for one of three reasons. They want to understand themselves more deeply than a quick online quiz allows. They want to understand the dynamics with a partner. Or a therapist or coach who uses personality data in their practice referred them.
Why we built this
Personality science has produced genuinely useful frameworks for understanding human behavior. The problem is that most of it stays locked in academic journals. The personality content that reaches people online is oversimplified, unvalidated, or both.
Deep Personality exists to close that gap. Real instruments, real science, and results you can actually use to understand yourself and your relationships.
