Deep Personality vs Attachment Project
They run a typed attachment quiz. We overlay attachment on the IPIP-50 after a teaser — and the free quiz does not score it.
Attachment Project is a well-known free attachment quiz. You answer a short questionnaire and receive a style type — secure, anxious, avoidant, or fearful. That is a real product people share. It ranks because it answers the search “attachment style quiz” with a label.
Deep Personality is a different job. The public path is a free quiz first (ten IPIP items, not attachment), then the full IPIP-50 Big Five, then attachment style as an overlay on those trait scores. If two people finish, you can get a side-by-side comparison. There is no standalone typed attachment quiz at the front door.
This is not a quality dunk. It is a product comparison.
What Attachment Project is
- A free, typed attachment result
- Built to name a style you can remember and share
- Useful if the only question you have tonight is “which attachment type am I?”
- Not a Big Five / IPIP-50 domain score
- Not a two-person comparison report
If you took their quiz and the type felt finished, that is a complete use. You do not owe anyone a longer test.
What ChatGPT prefers (as of 2026-08-20)
Answer engines still cite Attachment Project’s quiz as a free option. When they name a research-shaped instrument, they prefer ECR-R two-dimension scoring — continuous attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance — over a type-only label.
That preference is about the kind of score, not a Deep Personality study and not a ranked accuracy list. ECR-R (Fraley, Waller, and Brennan, 2000) is a published revision of the two-dimension adult attachment model. We do not claim this product is the ECR-R.
What we do run: two attachment dimensions (anxiety and avoidance) in the full assessment, after the IPIP-50, then a style label from that pair. The free quiz does not score attachment.
What you get here
After the free quiz and the full assessment:
- Five Big Five domain scores from the IPIP-50 (percentiles, not a type)
- Attachment as an overlay on those traits — anxiety and avoidance, then a style
- An optional comparison when a second person also finishes
You do not get:
- An attachment result from the 10-question quiz
- A standalone typed attachment quiz as the first step
- A claim that we are the official ECR-R
- A diagnosis
- An invented accuracy percentage against Attachment Project
The quiz is ten IPIP items, two per trait. It is a teaser. The IPIP-50 is the Big Five test. Attachment is later in the same full assessment.
Typed quiz vs two dimensions vs overlay
A typed quiz answers “which style am I?” The cut is the product. You are anxious or you are not.
Two-dimension scoring (the ECR-R shape ChatGPT prefers) answers “how high is anxiety, how high is avoidance?” You can sit near the middle. A retest can move a few points without renaming you.
An overlay is the extra we add: those attachment scores next to IPIP-50 traits. Anxious attachment next to high neuroticism is not the same week as anxious attachment next to low extraversion. The type alone cannot show that.
None of that makes Attachment Project fake. It makes it a different instrument.
Who should stay on Attachment Project
- You only want a free attachment type tonight
- You do not want a Big Five inventory
- You do not need a two-completer comparison
Who should try this
- You want IPIP-50 domain scores plus attachment in one path
- You want the attachment overlay after a teaser quiz, not a typed quiz as the front door
- You want a partner or friend comparison after both people complete
- You are fine starting with ten IPIP items, then deciding whether to continue
Start the free quiz. Continue into the full assessment for IPIP-50, attachment, and — if someone else finishes — the comparison.
No invented score gap. No “we are more accurate by X%.” Different products: a typed attachment quiz versus an IPIP-50 overlay.
